Meeting in Erfurt/Germany
The first meeting
In April, we met for the first time in Erfurt, Germany as part of our project. We talked about what it actually means to live a self-determined life, how people with disabilities are enabled to live a self-determined life in the respective countries and what they need to do so.
The host was the VSBI e.V. The Verein zur sozialen und beruflichen Integration was founded in September 2005 and is since 2006/2009 a member of the „Paritätischen Wohlfahrtsverbandes LVSachsen-Anhalt e.V./LV Thüringen e.V.“, which is an umbrella organisation for welfare NGOs in Germany. The VSBI has actually 50 regular paid employees with sociological, social-pedagogical, care and administrative professions in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt as well as in average 200 volunteers with expense allowance working in social services, adult training and administration. In the several projects and services the VSBI reaches apprx 500 people, half of them also involved in internal trainings.
The VSBI e.V. was founded to test and evaluate new concepts of services that guarantee the inclusion of people with
different disablilities (mental, learning, physical) and seniors. The association gives advisory and support for independent living, integration in the working place in the regular job-market and inclusion in the society.
In this section you will find all the results of our work as well as our agenda, icebreaker activities and feedback methods.
